i want to get a small bike 125cc or less to teach my brother how to ride. A ttr seems like a great choice because of how durable they are but can be any make or brand. Does Anyone have or know were to get a bike that is around $500. it just has to run and drive. I know that this isn't the exact right place to ask, but it seems like my best bet. Thanks.

If you're on a tight budget and have a bit of mechanical know-how, police auctions or auction houses for stolen/partially damaged bikes could be a good bet, otherwise local adverts/gumtree/ebay.

I'd say $500 is too low, unless you or your brother is good in the garage. Bump it up to $1500 or so and there should be lots of options. Like this sweet classic AT (year older than my first bike): athensohio.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1972-yamaha-125at2/6706062666.html

The TTR125s are great starter bikes and usually plentiful in the US. Like this: columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2012-yamaha-ttr125/6707452558.html
