Well i always wondered why the ttr250 only seemed to come out with one grab handle, and i always wanted another just to make it look symmetrical, much like my mates 600. So I managed to get my hands on one from a wreck and thought here's my opportunity.
Well what i thought would be a 15 minute job max, turned out to be a bit more.
It lined up perfectly with the mounting holes and with a few spare nuts and bolts on she went. Perfect, until i went to put the plastics back on. Sure enough it wouldnt fit now the new grab handle was on.
After some a bit of forcefull engineering, with a heavy object, a drill, and an extra hour or so, i did manage to get it to fit. But it did make me wonder....
These bikes look like they were supposed to have two grab handles, with the mounting bracket etc on the frame all there. So did someone somewhere stuff up with the left side plastics and they just thought (rather than remould 1000s of left plastics) lets just not put this grab handle on and no-one will really notice?
Must be something wrong with the grab handle, as they were fitted to both sides a standard and do not foul the panels. Are yours Raid ones which won't fit the other models?
Well that explains the grab handles then, mine were exactly the same shape. Never seen a ttr250 in Australia with two fitted as standard, every one I've ever seen in the flesh or advertised only has the right side.
