XR250 v XR400 v XR600 Scott Summers fastest on the 250.

I know its not a TTR but the XR250 is just like the TTR250 minus the E start, and this article shows the benefits of the lighter smaller 250 4 stroke against its bigger brothers.

If you can't be bothered reading the lot go straight to Scott Summers lap times.   And if you don't know already, Scott Summers is a multi national AMA winner in GNCC's racing an XR600 against the 2 strokes back in the day.

Having owned both a XR250 & a XR400 plus a TT250R & a WR250R I can comment on the above, I bought all new except for the XR400

The XR250 was not that powerful & they shared the frame with the XR500 so it was strong, it did ok & was the 1st bike I had without twin shocks.

The XR400 had a ripper engine, really nice power, was shorter than the 250 & would get a headshake at 130kph, if you rode at 95% it was great but push it over the limit & it was a real handful.

The TTR was great, electric start, great handling, good brakes, really nice overall package & I'm sure I ride it quicker than I rode the XR400, going by videos from the Flinders the TTR is smoother & faster & much easier on my body, I still ride the TTR pretty quick even with 17k on the clock & the guys I ride with say I'm quick on the TTR

The WRR is such a gem, I know this is a TTR forum but the WRR is the best dual sport bike I've ever had, it is such a joy to ride, goes harder & stops better than the TTR, mainly the power makes it better than the TTR, the other week I was out on the TTR & the lads said my pace on the TTR was good the week after I was on the WRR & the same guy said "mate you are quicker on the WRR " That said I won't sell the TTR as it's still a really good bike.

So I think the TTR in my hands is quicker than both the XR250 & XR400, it's easier to ride a 250 but you have to be smooth & keep the speed up in the turns, riding a 400 or larger makes you lazy, you tend to use the power to gain the speed, riding a 250 close to the limit will make you a better rider IMHO anyhow, I could be wrong so shoot away.
