hi everyone. I just got a honda cb250 nighthawk and im wondering if it is ok to keep the revs up fairly high since it only has 5 gears. can that engine handle high revs for prolonged periods of time? Thanks.
I have been and am currently looking for a 250 nighthawk forum but I can't seem to find any. I posted here because it is just a general engine question. It may be different for hondas, but if you didn't have a tachometer on any bike how could you determine the rpm.
It's a seat of the pants thing. If you feel uncomfortable with the high revs then, as John suggests, gear it up a bit.
I think the TTR has a rev limiter built into the CDi but am not sure. The engine is designed to rev high but I would feel uncomfortable riding my TTR wide open throttle on the road with its trail gearing....
Not sure what motor is in your bike... I had a Honda XR250 tornado they had the CBR250 motor...six speed , DOHC , single... at 100kmph it was spinning at 6200rpm with the standard trail gearing... it would do that all day on the road with out issues..
I put a cheap tac on it... had a wire that wound around the spark plug lead a few times..
have a look on e-bay they are real cheap...
