Has anyone successfully fitted a speedo sensor to the front wheel on a 1996 white tank. I want to free up the front sprocket area for cleaning afyer my green laning adventures.
If you mean aftermarket speedos, here's a thread on Koso and Trailtech, both of which use a magnet and sensor on the front end, which I have been very happy with:
The original magnet/sensor would be totally out in terms of speed readings, even if you managed to mount it on the front spindle, although there's a good winter project for someone (without a life!) working out the correct number of rotations of the drive sprocket per rotation of the front wheel, fitting a hall effect sensor on the front fork, spliced into the original OE speedo, and fitting a suitable number of magnets to the front wheel hub/disc to make it think it's getting the same signal, and maybe fine tuning the speed reading with a DRD speedo converter...
I use a trailtech striker on my 95 OE. I'm really happy with it. The only problem is that it has a temp gauge and now I get a bit paranoid about how hot the engine gets.
