Hello again, today i am servicing my air filter, I have checked out previous threads and after washing in warm soapy water and allowing to dry, some of you use 2 stroke oil instead of proper air filter oil.
I have 2 stroke oil and willing to bow down to all of your years of experience and use it.
You will get two different schools of thought on this Malcolm!
Some owners are happy to use 2-stroke or engine oil on their filters but I come down on the side of using proper filter oil. You get a lot of uses out of a tin and I think it false economy to stint when it comes to the air filter
If not, something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Putoline-Action-Fluid-Motorcycle-Foam-Air-Filter-Oil-1-Litre/132537632514?hash=item1edbdbc702:g:owEAAOSwUN9aqQ4D
Or my preference - both cleaner (re-usable) and oil - Silkolene https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silkolene-Foam-Air-Filter-Cleaner-1-Litre-and-Foam-Air-Filter-Oil-1-Litre/272886177775?hash=item3f89489fef:g:sPkAAOSwW9NZ4M4K
I use the air filter specific oil but I don't think you need to be overly worried about the type of oil - regular checking is probably more important.
Engine oil and 2t oil does seem exit the filter by slowly running down hill but it does leave sufficient residue. Filter specific is much more tacky to the point you might have to leave the oil in the sun to get it to spread evenly on the filter - and its messy to work with (gloves are your friend).

I learnt a trick, put the washed air filter in a plastic zip bag with around 200ml of filter oil, zip the bag & work the oil into the filter....clean dry hands, I leave the filter in the bag until I need it....both the TTR & WRR use the same filter & I have 3 spare filters all ready to go in a bag
