My carb has a leak from the diaphram area at the bottom of the carb so the diaphram is probably toast, I'll need to replace it. My question is will this issue have an effect on performance? I have no other TTR to compare mine to but if I had to guess I would say it's feeling underpowered.
The accelerator jet squirts a stream of petrol into the carb mouth and, unless your diaphragm is loose or leaking really badly I doubt it will have a measurable effect on its performance. Easy to check but requires the airbox to be moved back to gain access to the carb mouth to check.
The diaphragm may be OK. It's quite often just the two small O rings that need replacing along with facing the cover.
Thanks for the response. Can I change the diaphragm o rings without removing the carb completely? Is it possible to just twist it and remove the bit at the bottom?
Also, originally when I bought the bike it hadn't been used much and the filter had disintegrated. I temporarily used a couple of filters I had for a cg125 just for a day or 2 until the new one arrived. The bike was running great with this botched filter and once I changed to the new proper filter it felt like performance went down and the engine felt a bit more rough.
Could this all be in my imagination or is it possible the different filter setups I had effected the air/fuel mixture? The 2 cg125 filters were laid on top of each other and let in less air than the proper one. I'm wondering if the previous owner has changed the jetting and the botched filter setup I had better suited that.
