Took the bike out for a ride the other day, my TTR250 and a mate with TTR600.

Bunyip State forest 1 and 1/2  hours North of Melbourne.

Been dry for a week, the night before we go rain and a fine drizzly mist on the day. We were hoping for a dry day so we could tackle some of the harder tracks in the area, mainly Roberston Creek Fireline and Bullock link track.

One end of Robertson creek fireline was dry and the other wet and muddy. Either way it was a damn difficult track, with many steep, rocky and muddy stretches.

Eventually we got to a rocky staircase the TTR600 couldn't manage. The TTR250  got half way up before the riders lack of skill caused an unscheduled stop. I think with a few tries i would have got there, but there was no point as the 600 was never going to make it.

Quick stop at Labertouche caves. Long walk to see a very small hole in the ground. 

Bullock link track was a chellenge, Rocky track great fun.

Lucky you can still ride in the state forest, SA closed all that down years ago.

We will be heading off to Dargo in two weeks for five days of riding, taking the TTR & perhaps the WRR as well, 1200kms from home each way & hope to get photos to share on here.

Great day, only did 70km, needless to say there was a lot of slow riding, stopping, evaluating and procrastinating about the best route to take.

Not sure its All State forests but there are still plenty of places around to ride. Recreational registration as well which means cheap rego, with still plenty of scope to ride off road and on rural roads.

Looks like a good ride 70ks would be a pretty good effort 

up around here in the manning area  all forests are open for riding even the world heratage stuff maybe because it’s remote and very tough going very rarely see other people out there

   Nice ride.  Yeah recreational registration is definitely the go. $80 bux and you are legal with full 3rd party insurance.   I've run Rec rego since about 2000 ish when it came out.   So I reckon I've saved nearly seven grand on rego costs compared to full rego since then.   Yamaha ran out the last of the TTR250's for less money than that.

Its no good if you want to go touring, but for forests and back roads is awesome.   I trailer my bike in to save the tyres anyway.

 

And Victoria has so many forests, the high country, and sandy deserts up north..........    That's it I've gotta go for a ride.

$90 here for 3 months rego for the 250's my two Triumph's are about $135 each for 3 months,  I keep the WRR rego all year round, the TTR around 6 months a year & the Triumph's take it in turns
