TTR ride in the heat

Bit warm today, I was going to head to some sand but it meant riding next to long grass & with the hot weather we had this week not a good idea.

Got out for a quick loop on the TTR

Up to High Eden & back, 120kms & didn't even get off the bike, was pretty warm & I drank two litres of water, bacon & eggs on the BBQ for a late breakfast....job done

This weather is crazy this last week & the coming week is not much better

What gear are you wearing in summer Terry??

I used to always wear body armour, like a pressure suit but its too hot for summer. As a result I don't get the bike much through summer.

For Xmas the kids got me some Zac Speed (Good Aussie Brand) gear, a camel back type backpack with a clip on hard armour on the front.
It sits off the body front and rear and flows air really well.

Makes a huge difference and highly recommended for summer riding.

They also do an equipment vest you can swap the armour out for on the front for longer rides.

Helmet & goggles helps get some air flow around the face, Tee shirt under a enduro jacket, mx pants & boots, I bought a new 3lt hydra pac (OGIO) after xmas to keep the fluid levels up.

As I'm 2 minutes from the hills roads & 7 minutes from the dirt it's not a hard / hot ride & once on the dirt roads the heat soak is less & plenty of trees to give shade

I fill the bladder of the hydra pac 50-75% & put it in the freezer over night & top it up with water before I go out, keeps it cool

Terry

im three hours north of Sydney , just missing the hooter days sitting around  32- 39deg which is still ok for riding . its always pretty good for riding prob only 5 or 6 days a year that are too hot , the thing that stops me is when we get gusty wind the trees like dropping branches ect .

Saw a couple of trailer loads of bikes heading out this morning on my way in to work.
GRRR. Makes me a bit jealous. Was a nice cool morning about 18c before it warmed up a bit.

I won't go out on the bike if below 12c, I'm not good with the cold but I guess it's what your used to, I dropped into the Lakes cafe in 2014, road trip London to scotland & back
