Got a new numberplate holder thing and of course i overtightened my number plate light and snapped a thread on it.

So I want a working one of these within Australia, cause I want to ride it sooner than later.. With both threads in good working condition. Its says 'E4 50R-00165 stanley 015-8500' on the bottom if it.. 15108097444822018038500.jpg1510809350217-1635762659.jpg

Bad luck Glen! You are not alone although the broken ones I have are where the plastic bolt post has broken off.

I can't think how you can repair yours confuse

If you don't get any response then maybe buy one of Steve's after-market lights - see here. I have used these with great success and if you used a Totally TTRs replacement number plate holder then the holes are already there for it to fit straight in wink

Whilst you are waiting, my bet is that the remaining bolt plus the wires would keep your existing light unit in position.  Or, as you are replacing the light unit anyways, you have nothing to lose by removing the remains of the broken stud and its support, drilling through from the outside and using a long bolt just to get you going again.

Do they bolt holes line up with the original one on the after market one?

I wouldnt have any trouble buying one of steves numberplate holders except in Australia we dont have the ridiculously huge plates like you brits do. So i bought a b and b. Which the holes fit the original one, however I overtightened mine :/

The holes are different but it would be straightforward to drill new holes in your B&B unit.

See photo of Steve's unit below with the after-market unit at the top of the photo.
