My brother in North Dakota sent me on a goose chase looking for ... wait for it ... fig jam. The good man misses some goodies from back home (South Africa) and in particular a very specific fig jam, that the good people of North Dakota seems to be enjoying in equal measure.
So I jumped on the TTR Saturday, and just got out the gate when I thought it will be a good idea to just check oil level as I will be sitting on a highway at high speeds (TTR high speeds) - and knowing what that could mean for oil level decided to rather top up. Back into the yard and 10 minutes later it is Scene 1, Take 2.
Here then very inconspicuous farm stall selling this amazing fig jam so sought after in North Dakota. Took the opportunity to look for some off-the-road meanders, and managed a GPS high speed of 125km/h on the way back (not intentionally - was just overtaking).
Better to come and sample it here - and then take some back again.
And to have a look at what routes await you to ride here, have a look at the South African forum that is quite active: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?board=2.0
And if you need any more compelling reasons to come and visit - I had a pint of amazing craft beer (IPA it was) at http://www.honingklip.co.za/beers.php for ZAR 25; that equates to:

Oh you betcha you good man! But Kawaki and yourself goes so stealthily ... Struggling to get to join the Quarriors regularly due to the family commitments, so have a itch that I cannot scratch ... but playing nicely at home so that I might win an away trip into the Cederberg / Tankwa again.
Will also be away on the farm for the next 2 weekends, but definitely after that! Have you thought of doing a Funduro on the TTR Katana? Next one is apparently only in December.
we are having a beer festival in our local village club early next month and they get some weird and wonderful brews to try in there

Ah man, sounds like a festival not to be missed - any beer festival for that matter! Possibly one of the most horrible beers I have ever had was at a brewery called Triggerfish (https://www.triggerfishbrewing.co.za/) - an extremely bitter brew they had called Kraken. Being a boarding school lad I am not one for wasting any food / drink, but I could hardly finish my sample taster so bitter it was. Their other beer is lovely mind you - but this particular brew was something else, think it was called Kraken if I am not mistaken, but does not seem to me on their list of offerings anymore. They claimed it was one of the most bitter beers in the world, you will probably know the scale of bitterness measured?!

I would definitely do a Funduro on the TTR. To date I have used my WR450F, but I rode it in the quarry this weekend and it tired me out. The previous week on the TTR was a joy.

well I had a look in there on the last night of the festival which happened to be a sunday night and they still had a fair amount left and they could see that they were going to be left with it so in the end they were giving it away , I might have a look next month and see if it happens again
