Is there anyone on here entered in this rideout in October? I think it's full, but as I don't Facebook and the organiser hasn't replied to my email, I'm not sure. Four of us want to go up there, but as some of the Devon guys might know, we're a bit antisocialcry - make an exception for a party (like the A2E), but shy away from being led around normally - it all feels a bit Hells Angels "can't come on our patch unless you're accompanied by a local minder"

If anyone is going and can record the route on Viewranger, or just as a gpx, that I can have, I would happily donate to the trf fighting fund, or any worthwhile cause (except the home for old ramblers or the british horse retirement village!biggrin)

Cheers,

Simon.

Give me a call Simon, if you don't want to be taken out by one of the DTRF hells angels (me).

Steve

I feel quite proud of being part of a Hell's Angels gang Simon although you guys acted anything but and were very well behaved when I took you around on the A2E a few years back biggrinbiggrin

The guys even crooked their littler fingers when drinking their tea wink

Do you know Northumberland well Steve? biggrin

Difficult to explain myself without offending anyone. We just like riding at our own pace and not being beholden to anyone. An organized party like the A2E or the upcoming northern do has a different feel to rocking up at a carpark to meet a complete stranger (or leaving him waiting for hours while my brother repacks his bag, or does a last minute egg delivery...), and the fact we've been on the A2E twice proves that it's a fantastic event with the warmest of welcomes. Devon trf are renowned for their warmth and affability, and the RoW officer was extremely helpful when I wanted to arrange our own 3 day southern raid (- I think we managed 100+ lanes and a couple of hundred miles, if memory serves.) Conversely, the Isle of Man group were unwilling to divulge their secrets without a local minder. Luckily, their government foiled their plan by publishing really helpful maps  - great riding, and if the weather had been clear we might even have seen some scenery as well!

I don't seem to get on well with the trailwise website, and my hobby horse is the balkanised nature of the trf (ie lots of small, unconnected groups with different websites and forums each requiring a username and password) - I pay my membership to a national organisation and would like access to a national trail database. Ahem, rant over.

When we have a 350 to test I will be down your way like a shot guys, correct patch on my leather jacket or notsmile

Ride on brothers!
