We have had heavy rain for almost a week & I live 100metres from the Selwyn river..

So I went to work sat morrning... tryed to get home at 12 noon.. was stoped at a road block

as the river had broken over the flood bank about a K up the road from my place..

all the padocks/road was a big lake.... the good thing the water run out around the

back of my place.... Had to get a hotel room on saturday night... opened road again

at 10am sunday... my house is all good but I now live in a swamp till the place drys out..

the people that got stuck in there had to be bought out by the army in there 4wd trucks.

i live in a little comunity of about 100 houses on the inner shore of lake grassmere...

the plus side is the river has not had a flood down it for 3 years and was fill of weed & algee

this has cleaned it out... the trout fishing will be great this summer... the rivers only 116 steps

from my door.... know where I will be.... can't wait...
