hi all, first post and already asking questions.

just picked up a open enduro and tried to insure it As a additional bike on my existing policy (Bennetts) and from the registration number they said it was a TZR250.

When they tried to do it manually there was no ttr on their list so cannot insure it.

The V5 just states Yamaha 250, anyone else have trouble insuring the bikes or recommend a insurance company for the TTR in the U.K.

Thanks steve

Welcome to the forum Steve!

Bennetts are a strange lot!

I had issues with my first TTR back in 2002 and have a letter on file in which I wrote to them explaining about the TTR250 and asking them to add it to their database of bikes. I insured with them for a number of years with no problem but now have a multi-bike and multi-rider policy with e-Bike.

Some companies list it as a TT250R but we tend to call it a TTR250. It is worth getting the V5 corrected to show the correct model name.

Good luck!

Brian

TT 250 R on mine as well smile

The issue may be that insurers link to the DVLA database via the registration number so, if the information on the V5 isn't correct, then they have problems.

I too used to have problems getting the insurance company to figure out what kind of a bike a ttr 250 was. . I'm not too sure that they still know what it is but i'm insured anyways, They were always calling it a TZR, the bunch of uneducated philistines!!

I am insured with Aviva, but they told me they were no longer going to insure grey imports but would still insure mine as i have been with them for 18 years on the ttr. Each time i go to a comparison site or phone someone, they only recognise the blue ttr. Surely life is not that difficult to override a computer............

I've just had the same problem and was getting fully comp quotes only. Thankfully managed to add it onto another policy with Bikesure, underwritten by Markerstudy Ltd, who apparently will insure anything. Price was good too which is a bonus and as others say TT 250 R.
