Im selling a TTR frame on Gumtree AU.. 

Geoff contacted me about the frame for a friend on his.. Geoff lives on the Gold coast Australia about 30min north of me.. 

He maybe picking the frame up from me next week..Maybe i should let him have it for free in exchange for some unique photos/imfo on TRRs

The messaging is through Gumtree, so its abit diffeent emailing than direct.. 

This photo came with one of his Gumtree emails..

I will ask him if he knows about this great website...

Awesome c if he will spill the beans on how to set the suspension up for us ozzies.
Everyone tells me a wr is the way to go but i like the simplicity of the ttr.just like it to handle a bit better in the bush or mud or rutts etc....

I have both a WRR & a TTR both bought new, few thoughts below :

The TTR is a great bike, you really learn to ride with a TTR, lack of power is overcome with a sweet handling bike, it also brings up your speed on the turns.

The TTR is bulletproof, just do the oil & filters & it will serve you well, I took my TTR over the WRR to the Flinders.

The TTR is pretty even front to rear, brakes are good, seat is good, the ride quality is great.

All I have done to the TTR is new bars, barkbusters, levers, muffler, bashplate, mirrors & headlight cover. Changed the front sprocket to a 13T & fitted D606's

 

Now the WRR

The power plant is fantastic, the power is more like a 2T, nothing down low & comes on with a rush.

The brakes are a little better than the TTR, the front end is great but in some riding the rear end is not as good as the TTR.

The seat is not as good as the TTR, small fuel tank but it does more kms per Ltr of fuel than the TTR

The WRR does not have rim locks & the wheels are a pain to get in & out, harder than the TTR....XR's rock with getting wheels in & out

The WRR exhaust is perfect as is, makes a change for me.

The WRR is heaver & taller than the TTR, me being 5'6" need to move around on the seat to touch the ground which is harder to do on the WRR.

All I have done to the WRR is 11lts IMS tank, new bars, barkbusters, mirrors,tail tidy,  radiator guard, bashplate & levers.

 

Very lucky to own both from new & not too many of my mates can keep up with either bikes, if I want to go quick I take the WRR but if I want to go for a fun ride I take the TTR, the TTR feels much like a XR but the WRR feels like a new age bike.

Biggest drawback on the WRR is the seat height

 I believe my TTR handles pretty well, better than my last 4 Honda's but I guess it suits me & I would be the ideal weight at 75/76kgs.

I left the settings as per the factory & just knocked a little preload off the rear spring, dropped the gearing & added D606's.

I ride it within it's limits but don't hang around ( in my dreamtime at least) but perhaps I could be wrong.

I do run the tyre pressures at 15psi front & rear & ride gravel roads, twin track, dry weather roads but not a lot of single track.

 Standard rear & down 1 tooth to 13T on the front but running a 120/90 D606 that would take it back close to standard, was no good with the D606 & 14T on the front, not sure if you have seen the videos from the Flinders but we did some hills

I don't think 6 gear has been used on my bike since I have owned it..
5th gear maybe a couple times...
I'm running 13/50... great wee motor it lives above half throttle...

His TTR looks pretty standard on the outside, forks, carb, etc. I would love to know what, if anything, he did to the engine....

Surprised he doesn't run a sump guard confuse

If you zoom in on the picture it gives a bit of a clue to his airbox set up;)

Snorkel has been removed and an extra 4 x holes drilled at the back / top of the airbox.  Looks like the snorkel hole might have been enlarged as well ???
