I'm new to riding, and needed a trailer to get started. Here's what we started with. Found this online.
I ordered new tail lights and fenders from etrailer. Awesome place if you need anything trailer related.
Sorry, I don't know why that rotated the picture.
Bought the TTR, brought it home.
Now the weather got warmer, time for project progress. New fenders mounted.
And this week, fenders painted and inner fender liner made out of aluminum sheeting.
Later this summer, i will be removing the little 8" wheels and going with 12" wheels and tires. I also plan on adding stamped expanded steel decking to enhance usability. What do you guys think?
It looks awesome! Nice and lightweight. Those wheels do look tiny though. Agree the decking would make it more usable. Do you have to register small trailers in your area?
Yes, we have to register small trailers. I was nervous about it, as I bought it without it previously being registered, out of state, with no origination of manufacture or anything. DMV gave me a homebuilt registration. Have a plate, I'm legal.
From experience, that motard front fender will throw mud at your face. I had one on my old dr650 and came back from a winter ride with my head and shoulders covered in mud. Which doesn't taste nice If you don't ride in the wet or mud it's not an issue. And it does look good.
Just test fit them this morning, I didn't actually tow it. I just needed to see how it looked with it's new shoes on. I should have gained 2.25 inches or so of height, so that will help level it out. I can't wait to use it again!! I got so excited, forgot to mention I also got some amber and red clearance lights to add onto to trailer for side visibility. I will get those on this weekend, hopefully.
