Lot's of posts on Cam's on hear if you want a good starter cam go for a sj4000 the real one not a copy lots of videos on youtube how to tell a real one from a copy they can be had for around the £50 mark on Ebay. the copy's can be had for as little as £15 an they do work but will let you down in the end............ this type of cam Eats batteries so with either you are going to need 3-4 of them for a days running 7-9 hours an 2-3 32g mem cards. if you want to spend more then go for any of the gopro cam's but the are the same battery an mem card wise. if you want pro run all day gear then the 720 vio pov will do the job on one set of batteries an a 32g card the vio pov Hd will need a 64g card for the day. I have been using the vio cams for years an have 4 of them an to be honest you cant beat them yes I have 2 gopro cams as well an a Tachyon hd an 2 sj4000 cams an 2-3 of the copy's so I do just a little filming.
just had a look ebay 55.00 portsmouth keepinggame what do you think he has different prices im a bit confused what do i buy many thanks for your reply & interest john
last one I got was £70 came with 2 battery's an a 32g mem card with it you really need to watch the vids on youtube how to spot a fake it should be SJCAM
They made the Original one. if in doubt just get a cheap one an pay the £15 for it you can see how you get on with that type of cam an it might last one of the cheap ones I have is 3-4 years old an still running another went in the bin after 3 months I use them in high risk spots ie it might get smashed to bits if you put it there places and it's kid's at school that are using them so they don't look after anything.
many thanks for your time martin even that says china are they all made in china how can you tell the difference from copy to origional is it the price if so how can you tell you are not buying a copy at 60 70 pounds also what s the best card to slide into them i can look on ebay for one
As said John all made in China now that cam in the link is the real thing. if in any doubt on what you want get the copy for £15 The battery's an fixings an bits swap an fit the real ones as well so it's a good starting point see how you get on you can get the pucker one later. I myself can take some ace footage with a cam but I have no artistic bent on the editing what so ever an that is what sets a good video out from a bad one an it's not for lack of trying on my part I just don't have the knack ..........
I was looking an going funny eyed this one looks ok I could not find a proper 1080 hd one or one that would shoot that at more than 15-20 frames a second for the £15 spot an for that you need the real SJCAM SJ4000 it will do 30 frames at 1080 an 60 frames at 720 but don't fuss over that for now if you know bugger all about video it will just be lost on you I will just say you need lots of frames for real good slow mo fall off the bike
have fun with it an lob a link to your video work up when you get it on youtube I'm not going to point you at a video editor as I don't like any of them and other people don't seem to like the one I use.........
many thanks for your time & paitence just ordered that one all i need is a micro sd but it says up to 32gb is that all they take do i just order a micro sdhc one
They take up two a 32 micro sd card so you can use what ever you like up to that size as said it should be happy with a class 4 the fast film rate's 60fps an over need a class 1 card or it will speed trip over writing to the card. the little buggers at school take an use the cams an nick the 64g cards in them a swap them over with small 8 an 16 ones from there phones an seem to think its funny I now send a bill home to mum an dad for a new card each time it happens that gets them back 90% of the time
tried this on old laptop in garage works ok tried on my laptop which i take to isle of man for my photos will not work i think it is windows 7 or 8 does not recognise it when i plug it in in any one have any sugesstions
Sorry mate answered this this morning for but it never went up into the post sounds like it's software is it that the laptop is not picking up the camera when plugged into a USB port first the cam has to be on an set to storage device 2nd make sure it's a USB2 port not a USB3 that can give problems some times if all is right then it's likely the usb port set up take a look at that in settings. cant help much more than that as I would need to be sat looking at it with the keyboard in my hands. but as a 3nd hit if the laptop has a card reader slot take the card out of the cam an stick it in that will work 100% or if no slot you can get a little usb plug with a card reader on it back an that will work 100% as well something like this 99p on ebay
Crap you are going to need to take the mem card out an copy the video file onto the laptop by card reader/usb plugin card reader then use this on the file when you get it on there then even if the file says it's mp4 still convert it to mp4 with it. you could go AVI with it but that can give problems as well.
martin your a genius downloaded both those wow my sj4000 works can play it on my laptop & delete what i dont want but i cant watch them on its screen must be doing something wrong cheers john
Nice to hear John if its just a video playback issue that player should play anything I have never seen a problem with it. there is lots of players out there you could download an try. but first try converting the file to a avi with the anyvideo converter program it will play then 99% likely or just upload it to youtube an play with it there.
Ah see what you mean now it's different on near all them cameras but it will play it back some how if it has wifi you can link it to your phone and you can save it an play it back on that as well but with the wifi switched on it will munch them little batteries in about half an hour each but very handy if you have put the cam onto the bottom of the bike fork leg or on the rear somehow for checking the shot line up. post up a link when you get some footage on youtube we all like a good TTR video or even a old Harley playing up for a Add to audience

Sorry mate cant help they are all different depending on what software interface they have an with my old eyes the screens are so small I never use play back on them. I just run all the time then cut the video after on a pc with a 27 inch screen so I can see what I'm doing. is it playing back ok on the pc.............. ok. As I said they are a good starter cam to get you into it when you are flicking round Ebay keep an eye out for a Vio Pov cam any of the models will do a 1 / 1.5 or a HD they can be had for very little money I have seen the mk 1 go for £30 an it's a steal at that sort of money they sold for £500 + when they came out they are hd 720x480 only but you get a cracking picture from them an they are a Professional cam I have one hear 9-10 years old still running people think they must have a Gopro well not many people have a Vio pov then got to a Gopro people don't like them because it's a wired system but then you don't look like a telly tubby with it on your helmet so its a winner for me.
Maybe not ripped off not all of them have Wifi if that's what's missing the link I gave you 2nd 0r 3rd post had it but two of the ones I have hear don't I think it only came in on them in the last year or so. don't knock yourself if you have got hold of a copy they are still good for the job just a copy of a copy of a gopro look for films on youtube of how to get it to play back on its back screen. there is even a sj5000 out there funny thing is sj don't make one...................................... getting ready for them in advance I think they call it.
On the camera or when Editing on the pc the camera will flip the image with one of the settings in its menu as it can be mounted upside down just cheque out youtube for how to vids on flipping the image if its in the Editing and been recorded like that. If is your Editing package flipping it as it opens then most have a flip/rotate button in them

Don't worry if you cant There is a flip the image/picture in most editing software if you cant sort it on the camera. What are you using for editing your video?????
