Every ad I see for a TTR oil pump includes a little semicircular tin guard.
Every engine I have opened up has had no such guard fitted
Is someone taking them off before I get in there or were they not always fitted? This is my experience on both pre and post Y2K engines. Not sure of the purpose exactly - can anyone enlighten me - it's not exactly to stop you trapping your fingers in the drive gear is it? Reduced oil fling onto the clutch?
Mines still got it, I'd say it to stop the oil pump jamming up if any crap got in the bottom end , doesn't the cam chain also run behind that cover ? It would stop the cam chain coming off when rebuilding the engine too. Numerous little things it can help with
