I got a 2003 ttr 250 a few months back and have loved every minute of the thing. It's also my first dirtbike. But anyway the other day I rode it to the gas station to fill it up and on my way back the nut for the front sprcket fell off. I managed to slide the sprocket back on and babied it home. I got my new nut and a new lock ring today and just wanted to check the proper way to put it back together. any help would be greatly appreciated.

The sprocket fits with the boss towards the engine casing.
The tab washers only have two tabs and hence can only be used twice. Don't be tempted to try and re-bend one of the used tabs as it will break off at some point allowing the nut to work loose as may have happened on your TTR.
Replace the nut and torque to 110 NM or 80 ft lbs.
Bend over the nearest good tab to a flat on the nut and make sure it is a tight fit. I use a punch and hammer to make sure it isn't going to move.
Job done!
Brian
PS As the TTR is new to you it is worth investing in owners and workshop manuals - examples here
Awesome thanks for the help. Yeah I'm working on a manual I have been trying to get that nut in and trying to get my sons beta r10 fixed(bad stator) and I bought a little Chinese 70cc that I'm rebuilding for his birthday so I just haven't gotten around to ordering a manual.
