Sunday morning - met up with my cousin on his CRF250L, took a scenic coastal route (picture 1) and enjoyed some breakfast at relatives before hitting some dirt roads (picture 2) into the mountains. Lovely day out indeed and the cousin was mighty impressed with the TTR's performance compared to his more modern Honda.
Yep, that back tyre is in need of a change - his immediate attention is at trying to secure some riding boots; with us both being quite cash strapped, it is a little bit here and there.
At the moment his riding boots are as per the picture, what we call here in South Africa, vellies (skins in Afrikaans). I have managed to source some second hand gear still in pretty good nick.
But I just cannot explain how much I love the bike, in a country where 650's, 990's and 1200's are the status quo as adventure bikes - this little 250 has been a revelation for me. Yes, I am not the quickest thing on the highway, but I sit comfortably at 110 km/h - and when I get off the highway, then the smile factor just gets bigger. Plus, it is my daily commuter, come rain or shine.
