I had a test ride of a CCM GP450 the other week and have decided to buy one. It is bloody expensive but you get a hell of a lot of bike for your money. Unfortunately I will have to sell my TTR partly to fund the purchase and partly to make space in the garage. CCM have offered me a very reasonable price for it but I will be sad to see it go. One of the pleasures of owning it has been this forum and the banter and advice that members have given. Brian in particular has been exceedingly helpful. I expect I will still log in occasionally, initially at least to flog some of the spares I have acquired in my ownership.
I've been drooling over this bike since the pre-pro photos with the white tank/plastics. Same weight as a ttr but twice the power. I would like to see the same basic package with a trail style front end rather than the rallye stuff ie fork mounted headlight and no fairing. Probably the only bike I would currently consider swapping for my own ttr for trail work. Hope you enjoy it. Come back and visit and make me jealous!
Ride safe,
Simon.
Does anyone know what the engines are like in these bikes for reliability? I was reading about them a while back, are they a copy of a bmw race engine?

They're a Kymco engine built for the BMW 450X and I think Husqvarna have used it too, but it's detuned in the ccm application. There're a few people who've done a lot of miles on them and the first major service (top end stuff) has not shown any problems. Regular servicing being the key. There's a huge thread on advrider
where a lot of folks were worried about it before experiencing it (the usual forum type fear ) but there's a guy Minkyhead who's been there from the start who's becoming the authority on them - just bought his second!
Have you read the whole thread on ADVrider! Would take a few days I think...

Too pricey for hire-bikes I think!
Simon.
