So I've had my ttr now for almost three weeks, and so far it has been a blast. The bike is in really good condition and I'm sad to say I've put a few scratches on her. Bit thats what it's all about I suppose. Done a couple of rides, about 3000km's worth haha and finally getting more confident in the sand.
So here is the first day I took her out to go to a local mx track to see the guys playing with their more expensive machines.
After that we had alot of rain and I managed to actually drown my electronics. Unfortunately the electronics wasn't very waterproof so i took two days to sort it out typical african style. Under a tree in the sand lol
With the rivers now mainly dry in the okavango delta the search for elephants has not been very successful. We will continue trying though. It is however alot of fun riding along the rivers and exploring places we could never get to previously.
With most roads being gravel we find alot of quarries where sand is taken to patch up roads around town. This makes for great 4x4 tracks and in our case real fun spots to play in the sand.
I also managed to drop my bike the one day taking it for a test drive after i did the first service. Rookie mistake I had no gear on and when trying to pick it up from the sand the exhaust bit me.
Cant say my parents would be proud if they heard the vocabulary that came out of my mouth after that tsssss
Anyways just thought I'll share a bit of riding from this part of the world we are planning a day ride out to the salt pans I will report as soon as it became reality.
Thanks for posting the photos Wynand! It looks like you are having a blast with your TTR - good to see
One of the great things about this forum is that we have owners from all over the world who are happy to share photos of their TTR on their local trails. Some of the scenery we have seen has been stunning
Looking forward to seeing more photos of your adventures. If you are likely to come across elephants then I would put in a plea for you to add a helmet cam to your Christmas list
