The engine is a made up with parts that have not heard any of it run before.
The bottom 1/2 came complete with a bike I bought which was meant to be good, it had a receipt from a bike breakers. The head and barrel was from ebay.
If the little end was good then I think your next step is to re-check the valve clearances as there may have been a bit of "bedding in" with the head you bought.
It is surprising how much noise the valve gear can make and these days I tend to err towards the tighter end of the gap specification range.
re-checked valve clearance inlets are between 0.10-0.15. Exhaust one was a 0.3 redone now to 0.20(might be a bit under) the other is 0.20-0.25.(Only got gauges that go in 0.05 steps)
