MOT or not MOT, that is the question

Ok so  am wondering what you guys think, the TTR is in need  an MOT to get her back on the road but I am unsure what other work she needs to get her "road" safe. (Bar bearing on the rear wheel)

Do you think I should MOT her knowing there's a couple of potential issues or do I fix those first and then MOT.

I'd like to know if there's anything else I need to do so I can make a list Of bits to fix myself

what would you all advise?

take it for mot as it is, if it fails you got 14days to get it sorted and a free re-test

If you know its got a fault, why not just fix it before it gets worse and costs even more to repair?

Not had chance to get the bearings ordered and actually be able to fit them. and I'm not 100% sure if anything else is a miss to be honest.
This bikes currently off the road and not being ridden so nothing's gonna get worse, just hoping to see what needs doing before its legal to ride

I always go over a bike before offering it up for Mot just as a time thing taking it back the 2nd time just waste's my time other wise. Treens hear in crediton are old school Mot station and friends of mine for 50 + years an that mean's nought come Mot time they pic over my bikes top to bottom I get worse treatment than Mr blog's off the street. he might get away with 2-3 mm play on a shock an swing arm bushings it would get me a advisory or a fail should the tester be having a bad day. funny thing is I get the same at Van Mot time. I went school with him an friends ever since as well [ note to self why don't I look around for new Mot places ]

Thanks for all the replies. I've got myself a copy of a motorcycle MOT so I can run over what's needed.....just wanna try my luck in case she passes then I can go for a quick ride next week (after doing the bearings)

Taking the bike to Irelands in Barnstaple because it's my nearest bike place, had my old bikes done there and they are always fair. Fairs what we like!

My recommendation is to fix the obvious at the very least. In my experience as soon as a tester finds a failure fault then the list can soon grow no

That said, I have only had a couple of failures in the many MOTs that I have had over the past few years and they have been fair. I would rather get a thorough test for my own safety and especially on a sale TTR.

My tester knows that I also attend to any advisories.

Good news!

Hopefully just an advisory on the zorst coz good used ones are trick to find. If it's not too badly rusted perhaps it can be welded?

On the exhaust not just buy a pipe off of a wr cheap and second hand well most 2stroke crosser exhaust will fit and just have to put a small link pipe in it and use a exhaust braket that fits I have a crd on mine from a wr250f and all I had to do was for a 3 inch link pipe fitted straight on but I wanted it to sit higher can be done for under 100. Your front pipe will clean up with a flapper wheel on a drill.
