The bore has been opened out - not turned, it looks like a dremel or something similar has been used. Not very round and the slide doesn't slide as easy as it should.
The slide has been filed on the angled edge to allow more air in .
The bore being bigger means that the pilot needs to be turned out about 3 turns to have an effect and it works loose. I reckon I can overcome this by enlarging the hole slightly.
Apart from that it's fine !!
The bike does run ok with it, but it surges of the line so to speak and you have to slip the clutch to counter that.
I did buy a carb from the states a couple of weeks ago but for some reason it was not allowed through customs !
Don't know why - I've had carbs and parts through before.
If I can get acarb I'd be happier - certian things I like to be right.
Ive only ever seen one carb for sale since owning my TTR (about a year). Someone on here fitted a different carb with good results, have a search.
Also seen a few TTR's for sale with Mikuni TM33 carbs but not sure what size jets you'd need to use with them.

it would be great if someone found a different carb that worked as well as the Teikei original with jetting info. I can see many folk needing carbs in the future.
Was the Teikei Y30P fitted to any other bike ?

mates got a ttr230 - different carb than the ttr250.
Wonder if that Carb is used in other bikes or available elsewhere? Is it just a one off for the ttr250?
Its obviously a nice carb, wish they used a more common one in some ways. New slide in mine has made it like new, you'd think it would last the life of the bike - maybe it was carby cleaner that helped ruin the old slide (not sure on that though)
Had a seach last night and the Mikuni TM33 looks the best option for a replacement carb. A few small mods would be needed to fit, biggest problem would be cost unless a good used one came up. As for jetting a 35 pilot and a 145 main jet would be a good starting point for a standard setup.
