Hi, I jsut got a 93 TTR two weeks ago and I'm doing a few jobs on it, well a few jobs in fact! One thing is it has a 'TwinAir' air filter which looks in good condition but is dripping with a blue oil.
I use the putoline aerosol oil .Find it very economical spray filter its blue so you can see it going on put filter in a plastic bag and massage the oil in .Take it out leave it in the air to evaporate the solvent out and your good to go if you have spare filter you can store them this way too then you can clean and change at the same time.
Just to close this topic off, I cleaned the filter in a bucket of very hot water with loads of washing-up liquid, dried it out and then re-sprayed with filter oil. This seems to have worked fine and 'Gypsy4' is running like a clock
it may also, like mine, have a setup with the crank case going into the airbox. This may account for the extra oil on the filter, I know that the filter and the inside of the air box were covered in oil.
