I am collecting a 1993 TTR tomorrow. I have just sold my XT225 Serow as it was too small and a little too slow for what I want to use it for off-road. A friend of mine has a lovely 93 TTR and I came by one almost identical, albeit needing a lot of work. The engine is rattle-free and mostly it needs a total clean-up and some love and attention. The bike is standard but rusted from lying up for the last 7 years in a shed. It was used occasionally as a farm run-around so I think it probably has very little mileage on it. Next year I am playing with the possibility of doing an enduro. I'm not exactly a spring chicken (and that's being nice to myself) so I think with my very limited skills I might be taking on a lot, so if there is anyone who has done enduro, especially in Ireland, I would be very interested to hear from them.
Well I collected the new beast. She is in need of a LOT of love so I have a busy winter ahead. One big plus is the engine is rattle free (mind you I will have to check the shims!) and starts on the button. Everything is there but there is a lot of rust and grime to get past. It needs handlebars as they are badly bent and I might powder-coat or spray the frame which has a lot of rust. Comes with a brand new Yuso battery decent tyres (not exactly road legal) and good chain and sprockets which look low-geared. It will be ready and roaring for the spring regardless.

Welcome to ttr world .
Done a few enduros years ago and would say they are super tough but brilliant and well organised .
T.o.r.c organise them up your way so contact them . IT DOES MEAN you need license medical club membership ect and alot of money to keep fixing your bike .
There is a novice and trail class sometimes for people to try it out .
Good luck with the bike .
Actually Comeragh I went to see one yesterday to try to get an idea of what I would be up against. It was on in Timahealy, North Wexford. Most bikes were WR250F, CRFs and KTM of all shapes and sizes and the guys seemed to know what they were at. I got to chat with a few of them briefly and they mentioned the trail options, which is 20 euro for the day and have a go at the track at your own pace. There is a novice class as well as you say. At 52 I am probably being ambitious but life is short so why not give it a go? My main concern is my lask of off-road experience, and also the fact that it is near impossible to find anywhere around Kildare to practice, but I will work on that over the winter and see how I feel when they start again in may. By the way anyone I spoke to said the TTR is an ideal bike to try out on, so that's good.
Cheers!
