I got my 2003 TTR250 last year for riding the trails near my cottage at Paudash Lake near Bancroft Ontario Canada.  It is completely stock except for the Moose Racing skid plate and a small tie down rack for a tool kit.  I like the stock 13/52 gearing and can't imagine going with a higher ratio like you guys in the UK have. It tops out at about 65mph and that is plenty fast for me.

Hello there. I know what you mean with the higher gearing.  I have 14/44 standard in Australia. Notice you need to have a front  number plate. Australias rear only. Happy riding.

Nice bike. Yeah front number plate that is weird. Bet your 13/52 wears down the front sprocket quickly though..

I run 13/48 and find it pokey enough, if I want to pull out of junctions quickly I have to lean right over the handlebars so it doesn't wheelie, must be quite unusable in 1st with a 52.

Yeah it's no use unless you want to wheelie every where and bounce the limiter in 6th all the time I just put it on to play and when I use to go off road. Just remembered you have a crd exhaust I also have one now is yours anti socially loud?

The front plate is for off road use only. In Ontario, to ride off road in most parks or forest areas, you are supposed to have a "Green Plate" and liability insurance. For road use you need a standard "Blue Plate" on the rear of the bike. The American/Canadian version of TTR250 is not road legal in stock form.

My service manual says these are the transmission gear ratios. Are these the same as OZ or UK TTR250's?

My front sprocket is worn out right now but the chain and rear sprocket look just fine. Yamaha Canada was back ordered but I have a JT Sprockets 13 tooth on order and it should be here on Wednesday.
