Valve stem seal replacement with head in place?

Is it possible to change the valve stem seals with the head in situ (piston tdc of course)? How close is the piston/valve clearance at tdc to hold the valves in place?  Has anyone tried?

Cheers,

Simon.

It's doable but it's also only 6 bolts and two nuts more and the head is off

Agreed, but I hate undoing head bolts in flimsy ally heads/barrels unless absolutely necessary - I believe the threads have a limited undo/do up cycle lifespan!
Cheers,
Simon.

Well yeah can be done the springs are a pain to compress again I use a 13mm socket and put the volleys back in with a magnet and screw driver
