Had a big bushfire her a week ago, the road was just opened a couple of days age so thought I would go have a look No houses burned down this time, a big fire burned over 600 hectares, that's nearly 1500 acres !
anyway, as far as I'm concerned this was a good thing, I now have a barrier between me and where most fires will come fromif I add together this fire and a big burn off that happened last year, a couple of thousand Hectares Who hoo !!
Another benefit is the fire has exposed numerous trails I didn't even know existed more exploring !
Anyway here's a few pics of the area, most of you won't have any concept of Aussie bush fires, some of our Californian friends will have though they cop it quite badly as well
Some seed pods that open after a bush fire:
Snap Dried Tree, it wasn't windy when I took this shot, it's just stuck that way !
Wow thats some area at least no property damage which must be devastating for owners .Nature soon gets back on track looking at those seed pods they have evolved to cope with nature at its worst amazing thanks for sharing we have no concept of such destruction in the uk although we have seen some pretty feirce weather on last few years high winds and flooding .
We feel it out west! Every year at this time we wait for lightning and watch for smoke and hope the guys get on it quick. Lots of single track is "closed" for fire (closure is pretty much voluntary because there's no one around to enforce). On forest roads yer supposed to pack a 2.5 lb ABC extinguisher, or 5 gallons of water and a shovel. Attached is a shot of a big one from a few years back, a cool and quick fire, the hot ones leave nothing but ash.
