does anyone use a flush product when doing an oil change? I read in the manual it says not to use any additives as it could affect the clutch operattion and cause slippage.

Seems a bit excessive! Just heat the engine up fully thus thinning the oil. Let it drip from the sump for a good long while and tip the bike from side to side to let the excess run out.
Engine flush is something people only tend to use on dirty diesel engines or if have dropped some swarf in the spark plug hole, or prior to an rebuild etc..
I do about every 3rd oil change. 100mls of Wynns engine flush. - have to use the Wynns one apparently as it is detergent based and not mineral based - or is it the other way around???
Difference it made the first time I used it was suprising. Made gear changes so much smoother - was really noticeable. Have since done so on friends bikes and made a noticeable different. One bike in particular was always hard to find neutral and bit notchy to change gears. Made it like a new bike.
Many have also said this Pete and most people I know don't bother either. But even heated so that the oil is thinner I am not convinced that it can remove any varnishes etc. clinging to our lovely engine parts. Also, my bike has been standing for 3 years, and I am sure that there will be some nasty deposits in there!
Leigh, funnily enough I bought a can of Wynns but then thought I should ask the question here just in case before throwing it in. But you are correct, Wynns is detergent based. Apparently 5% (of oil in engine presumably) is required.

This is a very interesting thought. I think the clutches in my work bikes get draggy after because of deposit buildup on the steel plates. Fresh oil reduces this problem for a while, but it's not long before it slowly starts again. I think I might give the Wynns a go next time, and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!
