The first one of these I have seen.

Useful if you use your TTR for roadwork only as it makes the gearing just a bit higher than the standard 44T sprocket.

I'm guessing 14/43 gearing must be worth a good 85mph?...

According to Mr. Yamaha his TTR has maximum power of 28 bhp at 8,500 revs per minute.

Using standard gearing with a 14 tooth gearbox sprocket and a 43 tooth rear sprocket would give a ratio of 0.759 to 1 in top gear.

Using a Pirelli MT43 rear tyre having a circumference of 84 inches (2.1336 metres) the top speed of your TTR would be 94 miles per hour.

That's assuming your engine is capable of sustaining 8,500 rpm and your teeth are in decent condition.

To reach 85 mph using that set up then your engine would be turning at 7,677 rpm.

Highly speculative figures and all theoretical of course. biggrin

Depends on your weight and stuff too eh. Mr Yamaha gave the TTR 14/44 sprockets for dual sport riding. It is definitely worth swapping the rear for a 43 if doing a long trip and wanting to cruise at a decent rate on the main roads. The 1 tooth less has got to be worth another few mph's!..

I dunno my bike wouldn't pull atall in 6th with 44 t on the rear to the point a Sind wind and the bike would near cut out.
