I managed to get my bro' out trail riding today - his first ride since August last year
We pretty much covered the same route that SteveH and I rode last Saturday so not much to add other than I was glad to be leading coz there is very little mud or water left in the lanes and the dust was rising!
Pic taken in the middle of the lane that runs through the Ladram Bay caravan park owned by a biker-friendly family.
Pic taken looking the other way. You have to ride through the shops to get to the second half of the lane.
It would be a lovely week to be staying there.
This is the aubretia bank I mentioned in my earlier report.
A quick pitstop in East Budleigh as Trev noticed his headlight had come loose. Turned out a bolt had dropped out and the other two were loose. I think it may have been my fault as I was the last one to fit it after fitting a USB socket a few months ago
We both carry a little pot with, amongst other bits (wire, split link etc), a selection of nuts, bolts and washers so it was soon fixed and we were underway again.
Nice little lane on our way to Venn Ottery.
Crealy Park's new mascot! No, not Trev, the thing behind him, although both are dinosaurs
I had another bit of a do in the Crealy Bike Wash
I had another wobble in the main section and then managed to find the deepest section which had the exhaust burbling for a little while plus filled my boots and got my riding jeans a tad wet
I realised when we got home that the TTR325 has done nearly 75 miles on the main tank
We were going to go riding again tomorrow but a mate who is down as a run leader on the weekend's Axe-to-Exe event (A2E) has had the rear subframe on his TTR crack and it's a priority to get it repaired so that's tomorrow morning's job!
Afterwards we have some fettling to do to Trev's TTR (get the rear indicators working, fit new handguards and a couple of other bits and pieces) so it doesn't look like we will get out again until the weekend's A2E on which we are helping with photo duties, etc.
Can't believe you can do a lane per mile down there
We have areas where a lot of lanes are close together and it's possible to cover a lot quite quickly. In fact I got a 100 Lane Award to prove it - see here
Andy Lander-Stow who set up the award died back along and it sort of fell off the Devon Group's radar but ttrsteve is resurrecting it so I expect a few more attempts will be made this summer!
There are parts of South Devon where there are so many lanes that one of our more experienced run leaders reckons he can do a 150 lane day
Yep I am on it, for the now ALS 100 lane award and by the way Bri the smell around the house????? Nothing to do with you. Thanks for helping me out with the gear lever, think ttr towers should have a pit van at the a2e
