Tried to cross a mountain trail but the way was blocked by a fallen tree about a mile past  the waterfall and I could find no way around it. 3 hours out in the rain riding the mountain tracks. 

I was out on my own and was thinking it would not be a great place to have a serious off

Very scenic valley indeed. The tree was far too big for me to lift on my own. Sawing with a handsaw would take a very long time.

Definitely wouldn't want to be having an off in the middle of nowhere with no one around to help you. I sometimes hit down a trail by myself but am relatively careful about what I'm doing.

I dont know any other trail riders around here only road riders so I trail ride alone.

I am careful as i am a rubbish off road rider. It just crossed my mind yesterday when i was in the middle of nowhere that it would not be a great place to fall off

I take an Eperb when I go for a ride. Mobile phones don't work, so having the eperb is great peace of mind.

Thank you Pendo.

I had to look up Eperb as I had not heard of it before. Great idea which would be very useful for the rowing and sailing boats myself and my brother use particularly as we are planning some sea trips this year.

Eperb is mainy designed for marine use...
what you want is a SPOT tracker...
you can be tracked min by min by family
on the putter & at the push of a button it will
send a destress signal with GPS long/Lat
