Can anybody tell me the purpose of the little bolt, located on the front nearside (Gear change side) corner of the cylinder head just under the cam cover?? The thread has gone on mine and there is an oil leak from it, Can i re-tap and put a larger bolt in or does it serve some special purpose?? I have looked at the manual and haven't found anything about it yet..
Cheers, Rick

Well, today I took the old bolt out again and re-tapped with 6mm, hoping it may help, then put it back in with locktight, will see how that goes I think, was also considering a 7mm tap.. But may try your idea if the locktight doesn't hols up, Cheers :)
New longer screw in, tightened ok, but still leaking in that area, but found the 'Rubber blanking plug' repair thread, I am thinking this could be the cause, the bike is at my mates so can't confirm this until later, Problem is, the new screw is just a normal one and won't hold in the new improved blanking plugs you had made Brian, Do you by any chance have any of the old rubber ones in stock i case I need one??
Have you got the aluminium blanking plug fitted at the moment? If so, you need to go the Helicoil route and refit the original bolt and washer after annealing the copper washer.
Otherwise, yes, we stock the original rubber plugs.
Checked it out and yep it is the Aluminium plug, and it was leaking from it, anyway when I took it out looked like the 'o'oring had flattened and was a bit hard, so have stuck a new one on, just need to get the screw sorted out now, at the moment the replacement doesn't have the little pin bit on the end, but it is just about touching the blanking plug shaft, I will probably get a longer screw and make one to suit, but hopefully it will be ok for now!! :)
