Chaps, anyone got a back wheel for an 04. I'm of the understanding they are different from the earlier ones? Just the wheel will do, no sprok/disc/tyre needed but would take the lot if the price was ok. I'm getting a rebuild quote later today but I'm trying to get out next week and could do with one asap.
Fingers crossed from a fed up fud.
I've got a lowering link if anyone wants a trade

I've had some outrageous quotes for a rebuild. Basically the rim was cracked and bodged from the inside, worked itself bigger and is pretty dodgy now. It was well hid, almost professionally bodged
Not good news Steeeeeve, there was some own evilbay recently. Hope you get sorted for the mudabout mucker. Could you not pick up a rim and get it laced to your hub. Just a thought
From spoke too spoke I think from the way it was described, not seen it meself. It's having a fettle with my man who has a very keen eye [better than mine haha]. Mad innit, a couple of weeks ago there were 2-3 pairs of wheels on the bay for reasonable money, now just one for £130 and that might be the same as mine! One quote for a rebuild, the best up to now, was £170 for strip down, new rim and spokes and tyre back on ready to rumble. Bit surprised by it all really as the rest of the bike is spot on and has a huge service file, always been maintained really well. You reckon the previous owner swapped the wheels just before sale I did budget for a bit of a spend, just jarred off it's this expensive for something that don't usually give any grief! I'll wait a couple of days and if nowt turns up I'll go for the rebuild.
£170 for the rebuild sounds very cheap as a new set of genuine Yamaha rear spokes is about £75 and I would have thought a new after-market rim would be over £100 so I can't see much profit out of that for your man
£130 for a rear wheel is about right also.
A spoke-to-spoke crack is unusual. Could you get the old rim back after the rebuild to get some photos?
Yeah, should of just got it done in the first place. Chances of getting a good rear are pretty slim really for that kind of bike eh. I do want 2 sets of wheels though so I was sorta forward planning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,badly.
Does everybody else's life go like mine? Rang my man about twenty minutes ago to tell him to hang fire with my wheel,,,,,,,,,,he's nearly done it, in gold btw. So, I'm committed to the £170. I'd love them gold ones but not for 3-4 weeks I'm afraid. I'm away on holiday in a couple of days, just too much going on rushing about like I was when I bought the bike, I can't believe I missed it in the first place. Living and learning eh!
Im in no rush to sell the wheels, just putting them out there, if you're interested will put them aside.
Cheers pal, it's our mauds 5---ahem birthday on Friday and if she finds out I'm spending more on bikes than her she'd cut me nads off. I'll be in touch
