video from a ride yesterday

Well not cold here in Australia, was forcast for a high of 38c yesterday but they changed it to 36c, did around 200kms on dirt & gravel roads around the Adelaide hills & Barossa Valley areas.

We had shocking bushfires here just over a month ago on a 42c day, the 1st video is near where the fire started & only 7 minutes from my place

 

This video was another 5 minutes up the road

 

This was just a nice dirt road up in the Barossa Valley

It's had 50+ views and counting so it can't all be bad!

Perhaps the viewers fell asleep after the first (long) vid and were too tired to comment.

Nice. Very dry and dusty out there hey. You get on well with the gopro mate? I use a drift camera, I find the multi directional mounting pretty handy.

Your right it's too long but the reason was to show the extent of the bushfire damage & this is only a small part of it.

I should have edited the video but I was slack LOL

I havnt used a gopro. But that white helmet never moves. Im guessing you can program it onto the video. Is that right. As watched another video else where and same thing happened. Great vids. Only wish there was that much land around me to ride in. Thnx.

 Only got the Gopro & have 3 to play with,  SD170, HD hero & Gopro 3. The reason I stuck with the gopro is I have bar mounts, helmet mounts, RAM mounts, chesty cam etc.

 

I can also have the HD & 3 working off the remote at the same time but at times I wish I had the drift as it does not look like a camera hanging off the side of my head.

In the last videos I used an external mic with the 3 & it sounded ok to me

 As the camera is mounted to the helmet that should remain static but it does always look strange, I sometimes mount the camera to the bars using a RAM mount.

Another reason for the long video was for the UK guys on here that would have no idea what a bushfire is never mind the results after, I guess that's a small price we pay for for sunshine all year round.

 Hi Martyn, just cause it's had 50 views don't mean 50 guys have watched it...after all we have an old fart on slow trail bike riding through burnt out bush is not that appealing & I can't edit to save my life.

It's put me to sleep as well  LOL

Wow - the bushfire(s) covered a huge area! Does it take long to green up again?

Also, there seems to be very little, if any, other traffic on the roads. Is that typical?

 Not much traffic on the dirt roads, what you saw would be normal.

My video only covered around 25% of the total burnt area, we had lots of rain the week after so a lot of the ground has greened up, looks strange having green grass & black trees.

Some of the trees are trying to recover but a huge number of trees have been cut down, the other damage is road signs, fencing etc.

Brian this was just one fire that started 400mts from where the video started from, we were told to put our bushfire plan in place & leave, I stayed we wern't in danger

Yep 18min is a bit long, 3-4 is good for me

we had fires her a couple of years ago, the bush is mostly green now but still the signs are still obvious

Black trunks, downed trees etc...

We were lucky here in the Blue mountains this year, not 1 fire and the fire season seems pretty well over now

 Lucky Steve, Feb would be our worst month for fires & our bush seems to be drier than yours, I have a neice that lives at Bowen Mt & they had to leave during the last fire.

We have noticed how much greener it is over that way !!!

If I wasn't so slack I could break the video up into sections, blend & make it into a shorter movie but I'm crap at editing but the point was even after 18 minutes I was only half way through the fire ground in one direction.

Was also trying an external mike in the helmet, that seemed to work ok

Hi terry.hard to show the damage the fire has caused from a drive by.we are on barossa side of the fire.its amazing how much has been destroyed. Especially if u get a view across the hills.i gootta find out the tracks u ride.they look good and close . Cheers

 just public roads Kman, did ride up through Eden Valley to Lyndoch & back to Cudlee creek last Friday
