Farewell to the TTR
Permalink

so after months of deliberating and debating, I've finally sold my beloved TTR. A local friend got the bug for green laning after only one go on my Raid....so he tempted me with cash and I buckled!

However....every cloud and all that.....I had my heart set on buying amother Yam...this time a WR250f...so the hunt began and I met a chap form the local TRF group who was selling his due to an injury.

so I've swapped the TTR for a WR and while ill miss the TTR, the WR is a different beast. Noticable power increase which is great, a higher seat position, fantastic suspension set up and much lighter. Took it out yesterday and got used to riding it...funnily enough went with the chap who bought the TTR!!

He loved his new ride almost as much as I did!

so I wanted to say Thank You to all on the forum who've helped me over the last 4 years, it's been a fantastic resource and a great group of like minded people. Special thanks to Brian and Trish who've been fantastic.....needless to say I've alerted my friend to this fantastic forum so expect a new member (Dan from Southam) to be along soon.

thanks everyone...ta ra for now.image.jpg

That wr looks a nice bike. He is going to be in for some very regular maintenance schedules now though. Constant oil changes, valve clearance checks, and eventual rings and rebore etc, thats what puts me off one of them! Still some people dont mind that. Fair play.

To maintain these wrs is not as bad as you would think .

There very tough and robust build quality is tops .

There just   not as lazy and easy going as the ttrs a bit more offroad and alot more power .

The one thing they lack is a sixth ratio and the allround ability otherwise you will love it .

Have been hunting the 6th gear a lot already! Going to put a smaller rear sprocket on it too as there is a larger one on it....increasing the lack of top end problem!

Enjoy your new bike and new area to ride.  I had a great fondness for my TTR.  Probably why I still pop in here now and again. Perhaps the LMM can do a ride your way. wink

I hope you find a solution. My WR250F was a great track bike but, when geared for the lanes, it was very buzzy on the road. The TTR's 6th gear is certainly a boon.

The WR250F has a stonking engine though wink
