My OE runs fine in good weather condition but when riding in rain my throttle feels very sticky and when I let off the throttle grip, it jammed at about 1/4 carburetor opening thus I had to force it shut to an idle opening.
However when I turned off the engine and twist the throttle open and close, it feels normal. When I start it back, the throttle feels sticky and tend to jam as mentioned.
Ahha finally I'm not the only one! Yes only sticky when riding for me. With engine off the throttle does not stick.
The problem is the slide is worn.
The air flow through the carb with the engine running draws the slide towards the engine. At this angle the slide seems to hook up at the lower range of the slide opening.
Can also be heard at idle as a ticking sound.
I have tried sanding/polishing the slide and carb - improvement but not fixed.
I tried greasing the slide - works for about 2 miles.
i cannot find a new slide anywhere. A new carb is £300. I'm looking into a different make of carb that will fit but this will be a fair amount of work.
Thought about a sleeve over the slide to remove the play where its worn but don't see this working For any length of time.

I had a similar problem with a slide of an Amal carb on my old Triumph. The slide would chatter and rattle because it was so worn - my remedy was to gently squeeze the slide more circular.
It worked but only for a short time before I bought a replacement carb.
