Bike stalling ?

I've looked through all the posts but can't find an answer. Sometimes the bike ran well then it just cuts out. Tbh it is a lot worse since the new pipe went on, as I'm not sure about carbs I don't know where to start. It also sounds like it's blowing back through the carb at times if that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated, it does run well at higher revs than it ever has  though.

Thanks from John

The new pipe shouldn't make it cut out. The symptoms sound a bit like the carb inlet stub is leaking.

The usual test is to have the TTR running and spray WD40 or similar around the stub at various throttle openings and see if the exhaust starts blowing smoke from the WD40 getting in.

The other possibility is water in the fuel. Drain the carb bowl and see if any water droplets come out.

Had the bike running today and sprayed the carb with wd40, no smoke came out of the exhaust so I'm guessing it must be inside the carb which is the issue. Will take it off next week as I'm on holiday. The bike won't tick over for long so I imagine it is maybe the pilot which is the problem

Took the air filter out last night and it is separated along the seam for about 70mm, could this be causing the problem. If so do you have any filters in stock Brian ?

To be honest I wouldn't have thought that a split of that size in the filter would cause the problem but it's worth swapping out the filter to eliminate the possibility.

We have the Twin Air filters in stock - see here - drop us an email at Totally TTRs  if you want to buy one - £18.70 including UK 1st Class p&p. That covers weight up to 1kg so if you want any other small items such as a spark plug, pads or whatever they could be included "post free".

Quick update, a mechanic friend came round to help with the carb, the pilot jet was full of crud as was the main. Air hosed them out and cleaned the bowl etc. The bike now idles so smoothly now. Also emptied the over flow from the airbox as it was full of water!. The snorkel is missing but not sure if I need it.
thanks for all the advice.
John 😃
