One TTR250 for sale, One TTR250 wanted: Excellent condition low miles late model TTR250 wanted

Wanted:  I have grown a real affection for the TTR250 and would like one to keep in fine fettle for posterity.

I am after as close to mint as possible and if you are looking for less than 2k it's probably not for me.

I want to keep it in excellent nick so as close to standard as possible and not restored (no powder coated frames).

For Sale:  My current TTR250

These are fantastic bikes that will probably do anything asked of them and even though I have only off-roaded mine for less than 5 of its 35000 miles I know it will go anywhere.  I have also completed the odd 400 miles in a day journey with nothing more than a numb bum.

Blue tank UK model registered by selling garage in July 2004 but sold to its first owner in July 2006.

First owner commuted between Orpington and London with it and never even removed the power restrictors, covering around 22-23k miles.

I purchased it directly from him in Feb 2010, removed the restrictors and have used it for commuting around London but recently my commute has dropped to less than 3 miles.  This has given me too much choice for the daily grind and the TTR is stopping me from cycling and increasing my waistline.

MoT and Tax till Aug 15 but I am unsure about recent rule changes on transfer of tax.

The valve shim service was done by a local bike garage at 33398 miles and it still under 35000 now.  At this time they also fitted an all balls swingarm bearing kit.

It has had very frequent oil and filter changes.

It is jetted for and comes with an FMF Q silencer with spark arrestor but is currently fitted with the standard silencer because I have been too lazy to put it back on since the MoT.  I always present the bike with standard exhaust for MoT test.

It also has a mod to the snorkel (not airbox) and a performance filter.

It has Oxford heated grips that I had fitted a few years ago.

It has a home made sump bash guard purchased from ebay (oil can be changed with this in place).

It had an EBC front brake disc fitted a couple of years ago (original was worn out).

It has the original toolkit

The bike looks like it has been off-road and although well maintained it has been neglected from a cosmetic point of view, jet-washing once a year before MoT.

This bike starts first time every time provided you remember to use the choke when the engine is cold.

It is currently running very high gearing (good for commute) and this would need changing for off road use.

I changed the chain and sprockets (520 O-ring) a couple of years ago and it has not done a lot of work since.

It has Avon Distanzia tyres fitted, no punctures and plenty of life left.

New Genuine Yamaha fuel pipe recently fitted.

Starter motor works perfectly.

Lots of paperwork with the bike, including handbook and original bill of sale.

There are scratches everywhere, stickers have mostly gone, headlight plastic surround is damaged as is the standard left hand brush guard (slid down the road at an icy roundabout 200 yards from the house).  Mirrors are the originals but no longer stay put for any length of time.  It is not a particularly pretty bike but it is all there and all working including indicators and lights and fully working original UK speedo.  All levers, knobs and buttons are good.

For sale for £1250 no offers.

The two transactions are not dependant on each other (I do not have to sell one to buy the other).

Please do not view unless you are willing to pay the asking price, it would be a waste of both our times.

Bike is located in Carshalton, Surrey about 3-4 miles from Croydon.

Please PM if interested and I will provide contact details

Just seen it.  I do like these bikes but I am not sure I can pay more than almost new CRF250's with virtually no miles go for (under 3k).  3.5k is also more than the guy paid for it in 2005 judging by the bill of sale for mine.  Maybe I am not being reasonable but I was expecting to pay between 2250 and 2750 for a good one.

I may make an offer but doubt it would be considered.

I have now found and purchased a lower mileage, better nick TTR worthy of some minor improvements and preserving for the future.

I have also decided to keep hold of my current TTR because it is such a good bike and I cannot bring myself to let it go.

I will probably sell a couple of my older, less used bikes to make space.  Anyone looking for a Suzuki X7 project or a 78 XS400?

Hello.  I don't know if you are still looking for that mint TTR250, but I have one I purchased new from the UK back around 2007.  I think it is a 2005 or 2006 year model.  I rode it for 66 miles and then stored it in my garage.  It's not mint - it's virtually new.  The only problem is, it is located here at my home in Ibiza, Spain...I had a fellow that does regular furniture hauling to the UK and back bring it to my house.  I was thinking of selling it before it becomes an antique...it was an impulse purchase.  See attached photo.  Let me know if you are interested - it is a UK bike with a temporary plate and a tax disc, both of which are expired.

It would have been perfect.

I went in a slightly different direction in the end, buying a fairly good, low miles one set up for off road use but in a condition where I am not afraid to use it.

I kept my original TTR for road work so I now have two.

I realised I have too much other stuff that I will not ride in the rain/salt /dirt etc to add any more, plus of course having 3 TTR's is just plain greedybiggrin  unless of course they are your life
