I thought it might be interesting to post up some of the TTR nasties that I have come across so that worse case scenarios can be viewed. Please feel free to add your own.

First off, how about this for a home-made timing chain tensioner?

Or a delaminated standard case saver?

Or a valve seat that fell out? I bet that put your rattle into the shade Dave wink

Or a lower shock bearing well past its sell-by date? The linkage relay arm was scrap no

Come on - fess up - show us your horror pics biggrinbiggrin

Couple of photos from my "Black Museum" folder!

Shims - badly ground.jpg

The first photo is of some valve shims that I took out of a head recently. I know that professional mechanics adjust the thickness of shims to get a perfect valve clearance but I think the guy that did these was in a hurry no  Not only did he use a really rough file but didn't even file them flat as you can see from the wear marks from the valve stem tops!

Pilot jet - broken.jpg

Photo two explains why the slow running was a bit lumpy! Not sure how the owner managed to break the pilot jet like this no

Hey ho!

Came across another nasty this evening.

I was cleaning up a clutch crankcase and took off the oil filter housing to discover a rather large deposit of aluminium swarf - surprising how much! I wonder what had happened to the engine to cause it confuse

I stirred it up a bit and the following photo may show better the quantity:

And yes, that is the remains of an oil filter in the bottom of the housing. Well stuck in no

I don't think this was the best way to replace a worn top shock bearing no

These are hilarious, I can't wait to add to the hall of shame.
