My TTR had a Supertrap? silencer fitted when I got it, which sounded a bit naff and I didn't like the look of.
So I looked around and found this YZ 250 F Exhaust on our friendly auction site for about £40
So set about cutting it down to fit. cut the header end off about right (does fit, but may cut off a bit more and weld connector bit back on), and then took 100 mm off of the tailpipe end, so it looked like this:
and re-assembled looks like this:
And trial fitted it (sorry about blurred photo):
Just need to make up some brackets properly and sort the header end out and it's done.
Header end is larger diameter than TTR pipe, so it needs the YZ gasket AND theTTR one, but when I tried it before cutting it down, it fitted OK with no leaks and sounded good, and went OK. We will see.....
Great job. I was looking into fitting a WR 250 tailpipe on mine. Got onto a used GYTR tailpipe from western Australia. It was mailed from the west coast of Australia to the east coast for $30. I was amazed how cheap postage was. Thats like west coast of America to the east. Used TTR parts and whole wreck bikes here its just the distance to tavel to tow back a wreck.
Well Brian, I re-riveted it this morning, fixed it on, and started it up. Think it might be a tad louder now, but until I get it on the road outside (tried it in the barn this morning) I won't know for sure.
It's a bit too close to the wheel and the tail tidy so will have to move it out a little to make sure it doesn't melt the number plate
