Blue tank Speedo Drive - exploded view
Permalink

My speed is not working again. I am just about to fit another 3 prong washer from Brian but I think I have a part missing somewhere.

I have tried fitting an additional washer under the circlip to ensure the 3 prong washer sits tight down on the drive ring.

There was no washer fitted when I first had the bike.

Does anyone have an exploded view of a speedo drive showing the components.

Photo shows speed drive as it was, without me fitting additional washer under circlip.

Thanks

A previous, 2012, query CLICK HERE had this to say:-

"Look for any damage to the worm gears but I expect you will find that the three tab washer is damaged. The only pic I can find is copied below. Look for damage to the washer where the green arrows are pointing.

I keep some stainless steel versions of the washer in stock which are much stronger than the originals but won't fix the problem if the worm gears are loose or damaged - or if there is grit or some other foreign body jamming up the works.

They are a "last resort" solution and can't be guaranteed. They are however worth a try as a new drive is about £140 retail.

Have a look and PM or email me if you would like to try a s/s washer.

Brian"

You should have two plain washers in your speedo drive. One sits under the worm gear and one above the tab washer.

If you get stuck trying to source a washer, try here - part way down the ad for the tab washer wink

Thanks, I have the three eared washers but missed the bit about the plain washers in the ad, I will order a couple of plain washers from Brian.
