Finally took my 06 ttr to a mechanic, i am going thru just brake light filiments, not running lights.  He thinks it could be vibrations of riding at highway speeds. i am sick of changing bulbs every couple of weeks.  I am thinking about upgrading to an acerbis xled tailight or the drc moto led inner kit. DRC MOTO LED Inner Kit Tail Light Universal D45-19-001

any ideas?

Highly doubt it is from vibrations, even trail riding mine does not blow. I think it will have more to do with the brake light switch either faulty, wired incorrectly or touching ground. It also may be the taillight assembly or the brake light is running off too low or too high voltage.

Is your brake light wired directly to the battery? If so it may be the cause. I would use the brown wire leading from the ignition switch instead, if you have it running directly from the battery it will be producing 14VDC and may be spiking the brake light. When the throttle is applied the voltage will only drop as low as 13.9. Using the brown wire the voltage will be 13.8VDC and will drop as low as 13.6 when the throttle is applied.

What bulb did you replace it with?
