Brian,

I posted a new topic this a.m. and checked the box to notify me when someone replies. I had 1 person reply and got 4 notices. (I can't remember if I checked the box to email me whenever there is a new post to this topic).

Do you know what I am doing wrong? I think it does it when I "subscribe" to a topic also. Any thoughts?

...As a test, I won't check the box before I submit on this topic

greg

Hi Greg

I am hoping it is a temporary glitch.

Not experienced the problem myself as I have the "recent posts" option bookmarked and that seems to cover my needs.

Is anyone else getting the same problem as Greg please?

Brian

Can't say I have ever used the subscribe function but I am having trouble leaving an inserted link. It will leave the link but I cannot name it.

I.e.-  http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t57474036/multiple-replies-to-threads/. Now I'll try it as an inserted link and name it LINKY THING. Yep, still the same trouble. I might add that it has been like that for months, despite re-installing windows multiple times since then.

Works OK in Chrome confuse

(For what it's worth) I didn't get an e-mail telling me of the 3 posts to this topic, even though I started it. Just happened to check on my own.
That is how I would assume it is suppose to work, since I did't check the box on THIS topic.
Still puzzled about why I got several when Jarrah only replied once to "Rear Wheel Issue". Not that I mind too much, just hope you don't have to pay extra for that feature (pay by the email or whatever?) by the host/site.

It works with Firefox!

Sweet as, think I might chuck IE10 in the programs list where it belongs from now on. biggrin

I was once a IE user and now Chrome ('gets me home' smile ). IE is what I have to use at work and it seems like issues are common for some reason. Hope firefox fix will be the answer for you.

Funnily enough, if I use Firefox, I cannot leave a link but leaving a live link is possible. Quite the reverse problem with IE10.

http://ttr250.activeboard.com/p/reply/?topicID=57474036

Now the same link named- LINKY THINGAMEBOB

I am pleased to say that since installing W7 around what must be 3 years ago now, I haven't had a single problem Unlike XP which I always kept multiple ghosts for and seemed to be constantly reloading
I have all the updates and nags shut off so it's a bog standard W7, I use Kaspersky Internet security 2014
I guess I only use the operating system as a place to put all the other programs I run
I just went to Firefox 29 yesterday and uninstalled it within 2 hours, what a piece of rubbish no
FF28 runs perfectly, they changed nearly all the GUI on FF29, it's now rubbish and it crashes as well, it's the worst update ever
no  and I have been using FireFox since V3.0
My link naming works OK, but here's the trick with FireFox.
1. Type the name you want
2. Select it using the mouse, not the Keyboard
3. Click the link icon and past your link, this works for me.

I know how to do the linky thing Steve. I posted a thread on this HERE

The problem is that Firefox will only leave a live link (or named link) but will not leave a link. IE on the other hand will leave a link but I cannot name it.

E.g-

Firefox

http://ttr250.activeboard.com/p/reply/?topicID=57474036&commentID=57588622&subAction=quote

Now named

Internet Explorer 10

http://ttr250.activeboard.com/p/reply/?topicID=57474036&commentID=57588622&subAction=quote

Now named

I use W7 and have been for a long time. I just recently changed from pro to home premium as it works better and less hassle.

You mean like this:

or this

http://sourceforge.net/projects/photostoryx/?source=directory

biggrin

P.S.

I'm curious, What do you find more simplified about W7 Home, I thought it was just a lot of the network side of things

that was missing,  I know that's potentially a long answer, but briefly ?

Briefly, Pro has features which are not only useless to me, they seem to slow Windows down. I have only a 3gb RAM (on this comp) so all the extra features of pro weigh it down. In Pro I have to turn features off so it runs smoothly.

Oh Greg, I just realized why you received multiple replies to your thread... If I make a mistake in typing or need to add something to my post, instead of editing (as I hate the look of an edited post) I delete my post and post again.

That will explain it. wink

Jarrah

If you happen to see that I edited this post later on, ...please don't let it upset youbiggrinbiggrin

Your a funny bloke Greg, I think we have the same sense of humor (from other posts also). biggrin

I assume there would be many people out there thinking... I am so sick of that Jarrah guy and his constant deleting and re-posting! frustrated.gifangered.gifrofl.gif

It's not like I condone editing all together, I just hate looking at my own post edited. It looks ugly, but I'll make sure I take some mood suppressors before reading any edited posts in future, just to be sure . wink
