Wheel Compatibility

Does anybody know if the rear wheel complete with sprocket and brake disc from the older ttr's (purple rim) are compatible with the newer ttr's (2004).

Many thanks. Mark.

I certainly hope they are Mark. blankstare

I have a purple one with tyre and sprocket that I intended fitting to my blue model when the weather gets sludgy.

I think the front wheel/speedo drive are the only major worries in wheel swapping. confuse

Yep - both front and rear purple-rimmed wheels will fit the blue TTRs.

I second that notion. wink

Bear in mind that the OE front axle is different as it does not have the speedo drive. To use an OE front wheel on the blue models, you would need to fit the blue model front axle so the speedo drive fits.

Jarrah is absolutely right - the axles are the same overall length but the boss on the RH side differs - see below:

Just to clear up any confusion- The OE axle does not have a spacer in place of the speedo drive, the axle acts as the spacer. Of course, the LHS (brake side) always has a spacer (which is the same on both models).

Nice work Brian. thumbsup.gif

In my experience there is a plain spacer on the RH side Jarrah - you will see where it has run on the axle in the pic I posted.

Part # 15 in the fiche pic below. Also see here.

Oh yes, that one. However, that one cannot be seen once the wheel is fitted. It is more like an internal spacer as the axle seals the oil seal. Handy to know for others.

The oil seal sits on the spacer as shown in the pic below. The arrow indicators where the spacer meets the axle boss.

Hmm, can't remember it looking like that? I guess I have a selective memory though lol. I can't find my old axle to check either. Guess I will just take your word on it. smile
