A question of power...... I think ?

Hi guys,Finally got a chance to take my ttr out for the first time properly yesterday. Now I realise its only a 250 and its most definitely not built for speed but what sort of speed should I be able to expect from my bike as standard? I realise this is not a simple question but the reason I ask is this, I'm not a small fella (about 18st) but I'm not sure if the ttr could be holding back on me. The trip to the lanes I took yesterday was about 14 tarmac miles away, the ttr would only do 58 flat out in 5th, change up to 6th and she slows down! Is this the norm or do I have a problem?  Sorry for such a long winded question!

What gearing are you running? If the engine is a bit "tired" the TTR will struggle to rev out in top on standard gearing. The easiest solution is to try going down one tooth on the front sprocket wink

I hesitate to call an other guy Spunky wink

But anyway Spunky, standard gearing is 14/44, I run 14/52 and it most definitely revs out easy in all gears

I only weigh around 13.5 stone though

Check your gearing first

Good luck Spunky aww
