Vented front fender?

cosmetically, the only damage that bugs me on my 06 ttr250 is that the front fender has some very noticeable deep scratches and wipe out grinds in it. Seeing as finding a new fender here in Canada isn't cheap for a new OEM one, I'm considering a cycra front fender. They're supposed to be made of good quality as I've been hearing. While searching, I noticed that a lot of yz/wrf fenders pop up quite a bit more frequently than the ttr fenders. Though, I'm aware that the longer back of the YZ/wrf fender could block wind for cooling the ttr's air cooled motor. I'm very interested in hearing some feedback from u guys about possibly running a cycra YZ/wrf Vented front fender as an alternative. It's easier to find online and it looks pretty sharp too. Do u think that the vented section of that fender will be enough to keep the bike cool? Or do u think that I may be better off getting an actual ttr fender? I also read somewhere that the 230 fender will work well. Is there any truth to that?

A very interesting question!

In the UK, we have an issue with mud being thrown up on the engine which blocks the cooling fins. However, our temperatures in the winter are low enough not to worry overmuch.

I prefer to run the deeper YZ or WRF front mudguards which help stop some of the mud being thrown back. Never had an overheating problem.

It is possible to buy stick-on strips with a sort of LCD temperature display. You could put one of these on the crankcase and see what difference there is between the different mudguards. At the end of the day, I reckon it's the oil temperature that counts as it fulfills a cooling as well as lubricating function.

I will be interested to hear views from other owners.

Brian

Me to as I was thinking of fitting a wrf fender due to the shortness of the ttr fender. Let's a whole heap of stuff build up on the motor.

Which wrf fender etc is the best to fit? Do I need to modify if at all?

Didnt think about reduced cooling. Surely enough air would come around the sides etc.

Cheers Leigh.

Just bringing this old thread back to life in case it helps anyone. I have just gone ahead and got this Cycra 2014 YZF250 front fender for my TTR as I just trashed mine. I will let you know in a few days how it worked out.
