New to the forum, new to a cherry 2003 TTR250, but I've been riding Yamaha dirt bikes since my first AT125 back in the 70s.
Seems like the TTR is more common outside the US. I mainly ride/camp in the great basin area (NE Cal/E Oregon/NW Nev) and always looking for all-dirt enduro routes. So I'm looking to share some secret fishing holes (more like secret single tracks up remote canyons, but I have some fishing holes too).
This is a great forum for new owners of the fine Yam TTR 250!
Am not from the great basin but the deep south of mainland Europe (last bit before dropping off the end!) but as a lover of the awesome USA I envy and welcome you!

Thanks! Funny because I envy the idea of dirt riding in Europe, sounds outrageously exotic. Great forum, there aren't too many TTRs out here and quads have largely replaced enduro bikes, so its good to find some trail riders.
Yes, there is one place in Big Sur that a friend and I ride every once in a while: The South Coast Ridge Road. It ends up being about a 70 mile ride round trip on one to two lane dirt road of varying condition. I tend to ride like a tourist, rather than like a racer, stopping to enjoy the view and the surroundings once in a while. There are some fantastic vistas on a clear day, since the terrain rises up sharply from the beach to over 3,000 ft in that area. I don't know of other off-road places to ride in that area, unfortunately. If you hear of any others, please let me know. My friend and I did ride in one area inland from Santa Maria, but, the road was not, for the most part, as interesting as the one in Big Sur. We also spent one of the more miserable nights camping that I have experienced in near-hurricane force winds that night. We later found out that the peak on which we were camped is infamous, and that those conditions are typical of a night there.
